Meet Kelli A. Monedero, LCSW, CMPC
Sport Social Worker. Curious Doer. Attached to the process.
Fun Fact
Kelli is one of 11 people in the United States with the credentials LCSW, CMPC.
I am a licensed clinical social worker and a Certified Mental Performance Consultant.
My first sport exposure was playing pee-wee league baseball at the age of 8. I remember sitting in the outfield picking blades of grass in my gray Rams trucker hat and matching t-shirt, because I was bored waiting for the ball. Until I heard my name being called, (more like yelled) and there was a fly ball headed my way. The best ending to a story is what happened: I caught the fly ball! I never played baseball again, or softball for that matter, but therein started my love for sport and competitive play.
I am a 2002 graduate of Central Michigan University and a 2007 graduate of the University of Tennessee where I earned my masters degree in social work. I am currently embedded in athletics at a Power Four (P4) institution.
Throughout my professional career, I’ve had experience in a myriad of other settings, including another collegiate athletic department providing mental health support and performance tools, an outdoor wilderness camp, K-12 public education as a therapist and school social worker, and in a community mental health organization. I spent 20 years coaching Track and Field across Michigan, Tennessee, and Indiana, earning Coach of the Year accolades in 2012.
I have worked with a wide range of athletes and performers from elementary students at a track & field camp who look like baby giraffes trying to learn how to do high knees, to elite, Division I competitors and Olympians. I have experience working with teams and athletic departments to build team culture and develop holistic practice and competitive atmospheres that support student-athlete health and wellness.
I consider myself a plant lover and like to play the Animal Cloud game.
Why THINQ?
Pronounced “think”
Q: seventeenth letter of the modern alphabet. It corresponds to Semitic “koph”, which may derive from an earlier sign representing the eye of a needle, and to Greek “koppa” (Source)
If you’ve ever tried to thread a needle it takes focus, attention and patience. It requires few distractions, intentionality and awareness. All of these are qualities that inform good, consistent performance and high levels of competitive advantage.
